Cadet Program

Young Adults Interested in Law Enforcement

The Beaverton Police Department Cadet Program was established to educate and involve young adults ages 15-20 in police operations, to interest them in possible law enforcement careers, and to build good leaders within the youth in our community.  The Cadet Program has three main themes that guide the program’s goals and objectives:

  • Furthering the cadet’s education and development
  • Encouraging the cadet’s participation in a rewarding and productive service activity
  • Enhancing the cadet’s preparation for future roles as community members, leaders, and future law enforcement professionals

The Cadet Program will further the cadet’s education by providing the member with the basic knowledge of law enforcement.  Members will receive instructions in all phases of law enforcement including criminal law, traffic law, criminal investigations, crime prevention, traffic control, accident investigation, report writing, and other related fields that are an integral part of law enforcement.

The cadet will have direct contact with police officers through meetings, training, details, ride-alongs, and other functions of the police department.
