BPD Seeking assistance identifying ID Theft Suspects BPD Seeking assistance identifying ID Theft Suspects
The Beaverton Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance identifying an ID Theft suspect targeting fitness centers throughout the Portland Metro area. The suspect will use a guest pass to enter the fitness center and then cut locks in the women’s locker room. She frequently steals car keys from the locker, locates the vehicle in the parking lot, and steals purses, wallets, credit cards, and identification from the victims’ cars. The suspect is known to use those stolen credit cards at nearby business, but she has also been known to open bank and credit accounts using the victims’ identities.

Each year thousands of young children are killed or injured in-car crashes. The proper installation and use of car seats will help keep children safe. The Beaverton Police Department, in a partnership with Safe Kids Coalition-Washington County will be offering a free child car seat clinic. This clinic will be held on Saturday, April 1st, 2017 at the Beaverton Police Department at 4755 SW Griffith Drive Beaverton, Oregon 97005. The clinic will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A certified technician will help parents and caregivers learn to install and use their child safety restraints properly. No appointment is required, just drop by during the event. Each car seat check will take about 30-minutes. The last car will be accepted at 11:30 a.m. unless demand necessitates an earlier cut off time. Because parents and caregivers have different levels of confidence when it comes to using and installing child safety seats this clinic has something for everyone. The 30 minute child safety seat check is intended to be an interactive learning experience from a certified technician so parents and caregivers can feel more comfortable installing and using their car seats. As part of the clinic, parents are urged to register their car seats by mailing in the consumer registration card or by using manufacturer’s website. By registering your car seat, the manufacturer has the ability to contact consumers about recalls and safety notices. As a parent, you are your kids’ strongest influence when it comes to modeling safe driving practices, including buckling up every time you get in the car. Teach your family that safety is the responsibility of all passengers as well as the driver.

On March 21st, 2017, at approximately 8:45 am, a Beaverton Police Motorcycle Officer was on a traffic stop in the shoulder of the on-ramp to northbound Highway 217 from Canyon Road when his motorcycle was struck by a passing vehicle. The vehicle initially stopped, but then fled the scene.

On Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 detectives located a 14 year old runaway at a residence housing numerous subjects on probation for various sex offense related assaults. This runaway had been staying at this residence in the bedroom of Brendon Robert Louis Doyle, 25 years of age. Doyle is a registered sex offender.

This morning at 7:37 a.m. officers from the Beaverton Police Department were dispatched to a call of a man with a handgun. The man was reported to be on the roof of 2030 SW 170th Ave and was agitated, waving the gun and pointing it into the residence and towards the street. This residence is directly across the street from Beaver Acres Elementary School and a short distance from Merlo Station High School. These schools were both put into a lockout at 7:40 a.m. and advised of the incident.

Our Victim Advocates provide 24 hour coverage, including holidays, offering emotional support, helping victims understand the criminal justice process, and explaining community resources that are available.

On Friday, December 23, 2016 a call related to a counterfeit ten dollar bill being passed at a gas station on SW Canyon Rd was investigated. The Beaverton officer assigned to this case located a suspicious vehicle at the nearby Motel 6 (12255 SW Canyon Rd.) and believed it was connected to the counterfeit case. Further investigation showed that this was much more than a simple counterfeit case.

On Friday, October 14th, the Beaverton Police Department, with the assistance from Salem PD and Salem FBI, served a search warrant at Cheetah's strip club in Salem. The search warrant was related to a child sex trafficking investigation involving a minor female that had been contacted by Beaverton Police detectives during an undercover prostitution mission in July of 2016. In the course of that investigation, detectives determined the minor had been dancing nude at Cheetah's.

On October 5th, 2016 at 4:29 PM, Beaverton Police Officers responded to the Redwood Creek Apartments near SW Greenway Ave and SW Hall Blvd regarding three people possibly deceased inside a residence. A female relative found the victims and called 911.

The Beaverton Police Department, along with the Beaverton School District, would like to remind drivers to be alert while traveling near schools. On August 29th, 2016, at 1800 hours, an unidentified man armed with a handgun attempted to rob the Customer Service desk of Fred Meyer, located at 11425 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. The male was unsuccessful in his attempt and fled on foot from the store. No one was injured in the attempt. The Beaverton Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man.

On Wednesday, August 3, 2016 Beaverton Officers began an investigation of suspicious activity at the Pepper Tree Motel. There were two men staying in a room that had been loading large amounts of items from the room into a vehicle. After searching the vehicle, over 25 pounds of drugs, money and a loaded hand gun were found. There was 4.5 pounds of marijuana, 16.5 pound of marijuana laced edibles, 108 packages of marijuana laced cool-aid mix, over 3.5 ounces of heroin, an ounce of meth and an ounce of cocaine. Some of the drugs were located inside of footballs that had been re-stitched closed.

On Friday, July 29, 2016 Katsuhito Causeway was reported as a missing endangered person. Causeway left his vehicle, cell phone and other personal items at a friend’s house on the 29th. Causeway is an insulin dependent diabetic and it is unknown if he has insulin with him.

On July 29th, 2016 at 2:20 PM a male tried to lure a 14 year old girl into his van near SW Conestoga/ SW Downing. The victim did a great job refusing all of the suspect's offers which kept her safe.

This is a unique crime & drug prevention event sponsored by the Beaverton Police Department. Over 34 million people in more than 10,000 communities will come together to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood unity.

The Beaverton Police Department is launching a Cadet Program for young men and women, ages 16 to 20, with an interest in law enforcement. The Cadet Program will pair these young adults with police officers to provide hands-on career experience, team building skills and leadership development, all while having fun. The cadets will participate in meetings, trainings, ride-a-longs, Oregon Liquor Control Commission Minor-in-Possession alcohol details, community events, school safety fairs, Boy Scout presentations and Special Olympics, to name a few.
