Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design

CPTED is based on the premise that the proper design and effective use of the built environment can lead to a reduction in the incidence and fear of crime and to an increase in the quality of life.

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design offers a way to enhance the safety of home and neighborhoods by using design to eliminate or reduce criminal behavior and at the same time encourage people to keep an eye out for each other.

Request for CPTED reviews for existing structures and surrounding environment can be made through the Community Resource Office at 503-526-2516.
